Children IQ

Peter Treunen is an interior designer and the founding director of this initiative together with his wife Lilian and their two friends Arthur (a lawyer) and Shiro. Peter is a father of five and was inspired by his children who one day came home with the sad story of children who lacked adequate shelter, proper clothing among other basic children needs. Torched by the views of his daughters, Peter and his wife set out to find ways and means of helping these less fortunate children. In the process of visiting one of the homes, we were shocked by the conditions and the state in which the children were
being raised in. As a result, Peter decide to use his God given talent and profession in helping these children. He organized to raise materials from varied sources eg, floor tiles, paints, building sand and cement, metal among others that were used to redecorate the first children home (this can be viewed from the pictures on the website).

The above was done without any external form of cash donation. It was purely effort of the team of four (Peter, Arthur, Lilian and Shiro) With about 490,000 more children homes to redecorate in Kenya, the team now calls upon your support in making a difference in the life of a Kenyan child. You can do this through either of the following ways:-

Children are part of our everyday life and the world can not turn its back on those who have become less fortunate. Kenya is home to over 500,000 children homes most of whom have suffered either from abandonment or form HIV AIDS.

Apart from periodical support from churches and well wishers in food, clothing among other material donations these children lack the necessary tender care and the environment to build and nature their personality. As a result there is moral decay, among the children fueling evil personalities amongst them.

Building children organization aims to provide a proper environment within the children homes in regards to growth and development. The NGO will work with various interior designers to redecorate and landscape the children homes. The operation plan for the NGO will be as follows:-

• The designers will design the place in child friendly manner. That includes redoing the play ground, and the interior of their dinning halls and church halls, and also ensuring these homes have proper toilets; tiled rooms; the walls are child friendly painted; the play ground are nicely made.
• After the actual design, children from rich and able families will be included in the redecoration work such as painting cartoons on the wall, this will also provide interaction amongst the two groups of children thus mutually becoming an agent of reason as well as equipping the children with deeper understanding of life.
• The NGO shall not at any time provide money to the managements of children homes directly. It shall only support the homes in relevant material needs that will be documented and filed accordingly. Children form able background will be our direct link to the orphaned children. We will empower them(able children) to visit the homes often even after our work is done to fact find the impact of our activities.
• The NGO is a non profit making organization that will be funded from Europe after the first project is completed. Therefore, the first project has to be done by funds raised from well wishers and donors locally.

Our objective is to provide a conducive environment for orphans to grow up as well as build positive self esteem for these children. Through our NGO, the children will be able to:-

• Act independently
• Assume responsibility
• Take pride in their accomplishment
• Tolerate frustration
• Attempt new task and challenges
• Handle positive and negative emotions properly
• Offer assistance to others

We understand the uniqueness of children and want to help them develop into successful human beings that they are meant to be.
